About Sportsmans World

Recognized as the home of the infamous Hells Gate, Sportsmans World is unlike any other HOA/POA at Possum Kingdom Lake. With options for lots, homes, condos, and ranches (yes, you read that right), it is truly unique.

The majority of Hells Gate, perhaps the most recognizable icon of PK, is within the rock walls of Sportsmans World. With portions of the cove being shared with Gaines Bend, the towering stone walls rising out of the water is without a doubt one of the most iconic features that PK has to offer. Aside from being impressive on it’s own, it is also where the legendary “Hells Gate Fireworks Show” takes place, and it is the mentioned in multiple country western songs.

One of 3 communities at PK with a large section of homes built on the 70-100 foot sheer rock cliff lines on the south side of the lake. Enjoy lake front living with views unlike almost any other lake you’ve probably experienced.

Docks are allowed on some of the protected cove lots. The homes on the major cliff line and inside Hells Gate Cove (Technically Jowell Creek) are not allowed to have docks in order to preserve more of the natural beauty. That said, there are still options to have a slip at the award-winning Bluff Creek Marina.

Coming through the stone gates, there are ranches ranging from twentyfive to hundreds of acres on either side of the road. While they rarely appear on the market, it is still an appealing option for many people who wish to blend their lake life with a ranch life.

Sportsman’s World is the only community that currently has its own private airport, making it even more accessible to individuals who also have their pilot’s license.
